emily + ryan || lovebirds in porto

I had the immense pleasure of photographing Emily and Ryan’s wedding last Saturday, on a day filled with love, laughter and the beauty of the Douro Valley. It was one for the books, an absolute joy of a celebration that I cannot wait to share with you, here. But a few days before the wedding, when I finally got to meet this amazing couple in person — our relationship had been through WhatsApp and Skype calls to Australia, for excited planning and organizing — I got to take a walk through Porto with them, to photograph them during a stunning golden hour that made my heart sing. 

See, this was the first time, since we moved back to Porto early in the month of May, that I had crossed the D. Luís I bridge by foot. It was the first time in months that I got to see my Porto, my city, in all its glory. I got to sit across the river and just take it in for a while, look at the houses and at the stunning, breathtaking charm that my city has. It made my heart beat faster. And then we had a shoot!

Eu tive o prazer monumental de fotografar o casamento da Emily e do Ryan no sábado passado, num dia cheio de amor, de riso e da beleza do Alto Douro vinhateiro. Foi memorável, uma alegria d’uma celebração que eu estou mortinha por partilhar convosco, aqui. Mas uns dias antes do casamento, eu tive a oportunidade de conhecer pessoalmente este casal-maravilha! O nosso contacto até então tinha sido por whatsapp e chamadas no Skype para a Austrália, e um corrupio de excitação e de preparação do casamento — mas na semana que passou pude dar um passeio com eles pelo meu Porto, numa golden hour que me pôs o coração aos saltos. 

Esta foi a primeira vez, desde que nos mudámos de volta para a Invicta no início de Maio, que eu atravessei a ponte a pé. E foi a primeira vez em meses que eu vi o Porto, o meu Porto, em todo o seu esplendor. Sentei-me do outro lado do rio e fiquei parada um bocado, a ver as casas e o charme que a minha cidade tem, de cortar a respiração. E depois, a sessão!
