self-portrait afternoon || january, 2015
There are photos that become, for us, game changers. In my case, "the lovely crown", the "lady with the butterflies" — which I still use as my icon here, a couple more.
Yesterday, I was restless and dying to photograph *something* and guess what? The only available person was myself. I did it, in an old fashioned way: a tripod, a chair and a couple of silly props just to make myself feel pretty. And the result was, for me, a game changer. Not simply because of composition or concept (hey, this has been done over and over again) but because I was able to achieve a processing that made me feel better than I had in ages, regarding my work. So this photo might not have the same weight or significance for you as it does for me, but I wanted to share it with you anyway — and while I share it, fight the urge to make it my profile picture in every social network I'm in.

Há fotos que se tornam, para nós, marcos. No meu caso, a 'Lovely Crown', ou a 'Lady with the butterflies' — que eu ainda uso como ícone nesta página — e mais algumas.
Ontem estava a sentir-me em pulgas, desejosa de fotografar, fosse o que fosse. E adivinhem quem é que estava lá para eu matar o bichinho? Eu mesma, para não variar. Então fiz o que já não fazia há muito tempo: uma cadeira, um tripé e meia dúzia de acessórios só para me fazerem sentir mais miúda e mais engraçada. E o resultado foi, para mim, um novo marco. Não é pela composição nem pelo conceito (já estão mais que feitos, estes), mas pelo facto de ter conseguido um tratamento que me pôs mais feliz do que aquilo que eu tinha conseguido nos últimos meses. Esta foto pode, por isso, não ter o mesmo significado para vocês que tem para mim; eu quis partilhá-la na mesma. E enquanto partilho, combato a vontade de a fazer a minha foto de perfil em todas as redes sociais de que faço parte!
